We offer classes in and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu/Submission Grappling/Wrestling for both kids and adults.
“Nogi” Jiujitsu or “Submisson Grappling/Wrestling” is a class where one will learn to control and submit an opponent using various joint locks and strangles. Required attire is tighter fitting rather than loose. Board shorts/swim trunks without open pockets or exposed zippers are fine. Specifically one can find “fight shorts” sold on MMA and BJJ apparel websites as well as “rash guards” which are shirts that cling to the body and are made from lycra or spandex-like material. Students do not grab each other’s clothing while grappling in nogi.
“Brazilian Jiu-jitsu” or simply “Gi Jiujitsu” is a class where one will learn to control and submit an opponent using various joint locks and strangles many of which will use your own or your training partner’s clothing — called a “gi.” A gi can be purchased through many MMA and BJJ websites such as https://www.mmaoverload.com/categories/jiu-jitsu-gear/
Beginners are encouraged to still come to gi class even if they don’t yet have a gi! Eventually one will be needed however.
Open Mat (gi and nogi)
Bring your gi or don’t! It’s up to you! Open mat means free sparring. Anyone is welcome — and it is free to all whether members or not!
